Jim was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Floyd and Leona.  When Jim was about 2 1/2 years old Floyd died.  Leona married Arthur.

Maxine was born in Williamstown, West Virginia.  She and Jim had their first date on a Fourth of July.  They have one son, Thomas Jerry.
