 Dear mother
Rec your long and interesting letter a few days ago.  I read it about three times EXCuse me for not writing to you sooner.  I thought about it but just kept putting it off.  This leaves me well and feeling fine.  Hope it reaches you all the same.  I was surprised to find a snow on the ground this morning when I got up.  The weather has been very cold up here but this is a fine day overhead.  Aam glad you got the last letters I wrote to you.  I got a letter from Louie.  He told me about getting fired so maybe he will keep his pants on hereafter if he gets his job back.  I guess you are wondering why I haven't sent you some money long ago.  I am well aware of the fact that you kneed it bad enought and could tell you why I haven't but this letter might get lost and as you're figuring on coming home in a short time will not write too much.  And without fail, will send you some dough the 17th  so you can look for it after said date.  Am going to send you at least $5.00, each pay I get from now on, starting the 17th I get paid, on the 17th and 2nd of each month.  Of course I never know one day if I will have a job the next or not but that is all a game of chance.  Just make the best of things you can, for I will, be in a shape to help you wheen I said.  I have been working staeady for the past e months without loosing a single day but it took every $ I could rake and scrape to square me in diferent ways but thank the Lord I am on easy street and more, and this month will square all I owe down there for iit isn't veery much.

I don't think Louie has done so well in Idaho from the way he writes. Has he ever helped you any since he has been up there.  I know these promises like I am giving you in this letter won't buy nothing but I mean just what I say.  I haven't got much sympathy for Papa but am very sorry his business has gone to wreck like it has.  It gives the Hackworth a bad name, in a way and he knows or at least he should know just what caused it all.  It went just like the Butcher Bus(iness) did.

well mamma could sit here and write to you all after noon, but have got to go to work.  Take the best care of yourself,  Tom, Frank, and Alpha, that you possibly can during this bad weather and after said date I will assure you that you all won't have to live so pinchy in the future,

Will close by wishing you all well I remain your loving son  Harry
